The way we were

Drora asked to see how the little dolls looked before their makeover. They came with these plastic furniture sets. I bought the sets for the furniture pieces and had no plans for the dolls. I'm glad I was able to find a way to use them after all.

By the way, Drora, your little prize is nearly ready to be mailed. I will leave a post on your blog once he's actually been shipped.

Can you guess?

I rewigged and redressed some Dollar Tree dolls that came with some mini furniture packages I found. Can you guess what my next project is going to be? (Hint: It has nothing to do with yellow brick roads. :) )

Edits

Today was one of those days when I felt the need to "fix" some things that I hadn't been completely happy with in my mini house. First up is my mini stocking boot. I originally made the fur with textured clay but that just wasn't right. Today I changed it to actual fake fur. It looks much better now.
I bought this bentwood rocker many years ago. It was originally a golden oak color but our real one was dark wood. I finally got brave enough to paint it. I was worried about getting paint on the "cane" part but I didn't need to. :)
And, finally, I changed the living room window treatments. Although we didn't have wood blinds at the time the dollhouse is set in, the decor has slowly been morphing into the way the house looks now. I've never liked the lace curtains that were in this room and they didn't look like the real window treatments that were in here anyway. We currently have wood blinds so I used a bamboo placemat to make some for the mini room. I need to do some dusting in here soon. Apparently, mini me is not the best housekeeper, lol.

Mini finds and Spring flowers

I wandered through my favorite antique/resale shop today and found some things with mini potential. The salt and pepper parlor stoves are perfectly scaled - I've used these before in projects. I already had a toilet and needed a sink for an upcoming project. The little house went into the craft room. The chair is a Christmas ornament but ...
...it looks very nice in the Magnolia Way living room.
I finally got my snowman collection packed away last week just in time to put a vase of the first daffodils on the dining room table. So maybe I waited too long this year...

Shabby Chic Swap

Here is how I used the items that Gaye (My Small Obsession) made. They are the perfect colors for the Magnolia Way living room.
I put Brenda's shabby hutch in the boarding house kitchen. Harriet likes it much better than the ugly blue and white thing that was there before. :)
Here's a photo of everything I received. I've found homes for everything now and I am so pleased with my gifts.

Birthdays and Fun

My two beautiful daughters have March birthdays. The oldest turned 24 on Friday and middle turns 22 today. I don't know where the years have gone! I am so proud of the young women my girls have become. God has truly blessed me. Happy Birthday girls!

Giveaway Reminder and Victorian Garden

Here are the planters in the Victorian roof top garden. I am very happy with them.

Also, remember to post here to sign up for the 350 followers give away. The prize is a custom made doll. The rules are listed in the linked post. Good luck!

Thrift store finds

My oldest daughter and I spent the day thrift store shopping. We found some great bargains on clothes but I also found some mini items. The bottle on the left is used to transfer prints to white fabric. I'm anxious to try it out. The large cherub planters will go in the Victorian rooftop garden. I'm going to antique the treasure chest and fill it with "plunder" for the castle armory. The silver buttons look like little picture frames and the other buttons look like cakes. We had a great day but I am tired. :-)

Shabby chic in pink

I just participated in a shabby chic swap with a couple of good friends. I know they've both received what I made so I can share with you all now. I will be receiving what they made soon. The chest of drawers is one of those red stained Dollar Tree pieces. I gave it a shabby finish and hand painted the roses on it. The bed was completely hand made using a wooden fence for the headboard. The linens were made from a pretty rose print fabric, and old handkerchief, vintage lace, and a linen napkin. The "braided" rug was crocheted. The candle is a cut down birthday candle in a bead cap bowl surrounded by punched paper flowers. I used the same flower punch to make the blossoms decorating the lamp shade. The lamp is made from twisted wire and a pretty bead. I painted the baskets and made mini versions of some shabby chic/country magazines to put in them.
This bed has a larger floral print ribbon bedskirt and a gingham backed comforter. I also framed a tiny rose print in a silver jewelry finding with dimensional gel "glass" for each of them. I don't normally make quite so many things for swaps but shabby chic is my favorite decorating style so I just couldn't stop, lol. I included fabric and lace scraps for each of them so they can make matching curtains or cushions if they want.

I can't wait to see what I get in return!
