Contest reminder

Just a quick note to remind you all to post so that you are entered in the rose bench give-away. I spent some time on the hat box lid and it looks much nicer now. Unfortunately, I can't take new photos because my laptop just got sent in to get repaired and I realized tonight that my camera memory card was still in it. The contest will be over before I get the computer back but I promise that the hatbox looks nicer. :-)

The "rules" are simple. Just post a comment on this blog before Friday, April 10, when I will draw the name of the winner from the entries.

My turn to have a give-away drawing

Some of you may recall that Katie's only stipulation about entering her blog give-away was that the winner be willing to have a give-away, too, and keep the giving going. So, I am going to give this hand painted bench and the attached accessories away to some lucky reader. All you need to do is comment on this entry and you will be entered in the contest. Next Friday, April 10, I will draw a name from those entered to determine the winner.

I won!

Thank you Katie of Katie's Clay Corner! I won her drawing for a set of beautiful pineapple dishes hand made by Katie. I love mini surprises!

The next project?

While looking for something in the big drawer of miscellaneous miniatures, I came across this group of items. Maybe the next project is going to be a doctor's office....
I'm thinking I'll paint the cabinets that generic gray that modern doctor's office cabinets seem to be. The table will need some major alterations but I think it can easily be made into an exam table. First, though, I need to come up with a container to use for the room. Maybe I'll purchase some foamcore when I'm out tomorrow.

Never throw anything away...

My daughter was on one of her cleaning frenzies (weeks on end of piling stuff up and then BOOM! the cleaning mood strikes, lol) and was throwing out a table top fountain that she no longer wanted. Luckily, I got to go through her rejects before they were out the door because the fountain base was the perfect size for a shallow room box. This nursery is the resulting room. It's a small project but it was so much fun! The floor is made from craft sticks. I had the wallpapers on hand but I wanted a border to divide the two. I scanned a section of the teddy bear paper into my computer and, using a card making program, designed a border using the individual elements of the wallpaper. I love how it turned out. The dresser and crib are pieces that I had finished for an earlier project and then didn't use. They fit perfectly in the shallow area. I made the shelf, diaper pail, bedding, diaper stacker and most of the other accessories from things I had on hand or printies from the internet. The baby is a Heidi Ott doll and she seems quite comfy in her little bed.

Kitchen swap ideas

I am currently working on items for a kitchen swap. I can't post pictures - except for maybe the rejected ideas. I just spent two days on something only to decide I hated it. The current idea is working well but I want more. Any wonderful kitchen swap ideas that anyone wants to share?
