I'm back!

First, I'd like to thank you all for your "get well soon" messages to my husband. He's improving each day but he's a bit like my college aged daughters when they are home for the summer - he's bored out of his mind. :) When he's working he's on the go all day and is pretty tired by the time he gets home so he doesn't mind quiet activities. But now he keeps thinking of all that needs to be done outside and he's getting stir crazy - but he's not driving me crazy yet so it's all good, lol.

I've been busy with a commission these past few days. It's a bedroom for a very young boy.
The furniture and bedding is all my design and was very fun to make. I've been making a lot of girly, pastel things recently so this has been a nice change of pace.

Rooms for sale!

I just listed three room boxes in my etsy shop. The doctor's office has been redone in a smaller, lighter box. I also listed a Christmas room and a nursery with a Heidi Ott baby.

While I'm at it...

I may as well post the rest of the photos. First, in the living/dining rooms I currently have the beach cottage, the back porch, the half scale Colonial and the log cabin. There are photos of all of the those somewhere on the blog page. This is Harriet's Kitchen. It's the last of the rooms in my craft room. Harriet has the grandchildren over for a visit.
This wedding gazebo was made in a bird feeder. It hangs from a hook over the window in my bedroom.
This is a plastic canvas house made for me by my favorite of hubby's aunts. At the time my kids' rooms were blue, yellow and pink. The colors she used downstairs are the colors we had in the main living areas then, too. This one sits on the floor in my bedroom as it is child friendly if young ones come over to see the dollhouses.
These two tin lithographed houses have the same interior. The one on the left was my mother's when she was a child. She still had a lot of the original furniture. I added some as well. Her version has an opening front door. I thought her house had been thrown away during a move so hubby bought me the one on the right for an anniversary gift. Mine doesn't have an opening front door. The exteriors are painted differently, too. These are Playsteel houses made by the National Can Company in the 1940s. These houses are on a shelf in my bedroom.

Rearranging

I moved some books to my bedroom and brought some roomboxes down to my craft room. The result is that most of the rooms are now in the craftroom. The top shelf holds a man's game room, the doctor's office, and a Christmas living room. The second shelf holds Brown's Mercantile general store, my little witch scene and the street scene my brother's friend made for me.
This is my bedroom collection. Two nurseries, one little girl's room, one country style woman's room and one "before the wedding" room in a suitcase.

Complete with trim!

I got some trim on the dr.'s office last night and decoupaged a caption on it as well. Other than needing to add a few odds and ends, I think it's pretty much complete.

I think it's finished!

Except for exterior trim and some sort of ceiling, of course. The interior is mostly complete, though. Mr. Smith is no longer "nekkid". To his right you can see the xray reader and the blood pressure monitor.
The cupboard is stocked with extra medical supplies. The soap and paper towel dispensers and round box of tissues are all near the sink. The small packets at the front edge of the sink are gauze pads still in the packets.
So sorry for the delay, Mr. Smith. Oops, maybe he had to wait a bit longer than the usual patient! This is a view of the entire office.
The left side of the office.
A closer view - you can see the open file, an otoscope, a stethoscope, a jar of tongue depressors, a box of latex gloves and an open box of cotton balls (with real, tiny cotton balls inside.)

Progress!

The doctor's office has come a long way. The last time I posted I wasn't even sure what I was going to use for the structure but I raided my wood scraps and I have the basic room built. (I have a woodworking friend who saves his scrap wood for me. It's wonderful!)

Doreen suggested keeping the skeleton as the patient with a caption to the effect of "Sorry for the delay, Mr. Smith." I really like that idea so Mr. Smith will be getting a hospital gown later today. Forgive his "nekkedness" for now, lol. I still have a lot of equipment and supplies to make, too.

Never throw anything away...

My daughter was on one of her cleaning frenzies (weeks on end of piling stuff up and then BOOM! the cleaning mood strikes, lol) and was throwing out a table top fountain that she no longer wanted. Luckily, I got to go through her rejects before they were out the door because the fountain base was the perfect size for a shallow room box. This nursery is the resulting room. It's a small project but it was so much fun! The floor is made from craft sticks. I had the wallpapers on hand but I wanted a border to divide the two. I scanned a section of the teddy bear paper into my computer and, using a card making program, designed a border using the individual elements of the wallpaper. I love how it turned out. The dresser and crib are pieces that I had finished for an earlier project and then didn't use. They fit perfectly in the shallow area. I made the shelf, diaper pail, bedding, diaper stacker and most of the other accessories from things I had on hand or printies from the internet. The baby is a Heidi Ott doll and she seems quite comfy in her little bed.

Mini Museum

Hi everyone. I'm back from a long day of driving. Hubby had a doctor appointment 2 1/2 hours away. The appointment itself was an hour and a half long and then we had the return drive. He got a good report but there will be no actual mini-making today. Instead I'm posting some pics of the "mini museum" I set up in my house last spring for the senior citizens' group at my church. I set up all of my dollhouses like a city block on the dining room table with a gazebo in the middle (lucky for me I have a very large table!) The roomboxes were on the kitchen counter and snack bar. It was a lot of work to set up but very fun - and everything got a good cleaning. The seniors enjoyed looking at everything and several have commented on how much they enjoyed it since but I haven't yet been able to convince any of them to take up the hobby.
