Late night experiment

I was up far too late (or was it too early?) experimenting with making a 1:24 scale doll. Most of my houses and rooms have people in them - somehow they just don't seem finished otherwise. So I had to at least try to make one for the half scale Colonial. Besides, who would feed the dog if I didn't, lol?

So, I am happy to introduce Maria, flaws and all. Her head is a bit too large and I still need to add some padding to her hips and thighs but she looks pretty good for my first attempt. She's wearing a wrap cardigan sweater set over a long pencil skirt. I think she just got home from work and hasn't taken time to change yet.

Welcome and lights

I added non-working light fixtures today. The laundry room has a pull chain style hanging light bulb made from part of a string of LED lights that didn't work.
I rearranged the living room and added a "crystal" ceiling fixture.
The landing now has a plant in the window. I also added a plant to the kitchen window. I still need to make a half round table for the landing, maybe with a mirror hanging over it. I also need artwork for this area. It's very bare looking.

Some friends in my online forum suggested I post a photo of the utility shelf items with a penny just to give a better idea of scale. I posted it there but I thought you'd all be interested too. :0)

Fun with polymer clay

Well here's the promised leather couch. It's a bit too shiny but it looks good otherwise. It has the look of button tufting in the back and two round pillows with button tufted centers and pleats. I'm not sure about the coffee table yet.
I also made a chair for the bedroom. It also has a button tufted back.

I think I'm cross-eyed now

The utility shelf in the laundry room is no longer empty. (I still have plenty of room for more if I want later, though.) I made everything with a chopstick, some polymer clay and some downloaded labels. I also used some glue and Mod Podge, paint, and a bit of plastic wrap for the toilet paper.
The spray bottles were the most challenging but they turned out really well.
This room is basically finished now. I will probably add more later but it looks complete.

Stay tuned - I have a "leather" couch made of polymer clay in the oven now. If it turns out well it will go in the office.

Rugs make everything so much cozier

The living room is just a rectangle of wallpaper trimmed with ribbon fringe. It looks nice in the room and was very easy to do.
The bedroom half circle rug was cut from a printie. It has a layer of tissue and glue on top.

I think the living room is finished but the bedroom still needs more furniture. I also need something else for the office, stuff to put on the shelves in the laundry/utility room, exercise equipment and plants. Probably more books, too, for the office. I want at least a small table on the landing. There's still enough to keep me busy for awhile. :0)

My beautiful middle child turns 20 today. Now I have two in their 20s and just one teenager still at home. It doesn't seem like it's been 20 years since she was born. She's now a sophomore in college studying to be a special education teacher. I'm so proud of her!
