I made a halogen torchiere lamp for Maria today. That corner under the stairs was very dark. ;0) It was very simple. The post is a fancy toothpick in a base made of a bead and a button. The shade is a small suction cup with a clear bead light bulb.
It looks real and also helps keep the couch from sliding back against the wall.
I think the half scale house office is finished. I think Maria must be an attorney as that bookcase looks to be filled with law books. It looks like I need to color the edge on this side of the desk but other than that I can call one more room complete. I don't think there's anything else that I had in mind for the house. There may be a few more accessories but it's all basically finished. This was a very fun project for me and I learned some new skills as I tried to figure out how to work in the smaller scale. Thanks for following along as I worked and offering so many positive comments. Your encouragement means a lot!
I figured out how to make the treadmill. It gave me all kinds of fits but the end product looks real so I guess it was worth it, lol.
Maria has been filled out a little and I pulled her hair back. That makes her head look a little more proportional. She seems to be settling in to her house very well. :0)
I added non-working light fixtures today. The laundry room has a pull chain style hanging light bulb made from part of a string of LED lights that didn't work.
I rearranged the living room and added a "crystal" ceiling fixture.
The landing now has a plant in the window. I also added a plant to the kitchen window. I still need to make a half round table for the landing, maybe with a mirror hanging over it. I also need artwork for this area. It's very bare looking.
Well here's the promised leather couch. It's a bit too shiny but it looks good otherwise. It has the look of button tufting in the back and two round pillows with button tufted centers and pleats. I'm not sure about the coffee table yet.
I also made a chair for the bedroom. It also has a button tufted back.
The utility shelf in the laundry room is no longer empty. (I still have plenty of room for more if I want later, though.) I made everything with a chopstick, some polymer clay and some downloaded labels. I also used some glue and Mod Podge, paint, and a bit of plastic wrap for the toilet paper.
The spray bottles were the most challenging but they turned out really well.
This room is basically finished now. I will probably add more later but it looks complete.
The living room is just a rectangle of wallpaper trimmed with ribbon fringe. It looks nice in the room and was very easy to do.
The bedroom half circle rug was cut from a printie. It has a layer of tissue and glue on top.
The kitchen artwork is a set of vintage ladies' magazine covers. The wall clock is a button and a printie. The shade is made from a vintage handkerchief. The candle on the table is a bead in a small grommet with a bit of black thread for a burned wick.
The living room now has a little coffee table with a silver bowl and a couple of magazines. I made a ginger jar and a small vase from beads and a couple of books for the shelf of the entertainment center. There's also another wall clock in here.
The bedroom now has a dresser, some poster art work (photos taken by my friend Tina) and a lamp and an alarm clock.
The shelf above the stove now has salt, pepper and other spices.
I think all that's left to finish the living room is a rug. It's really looking cozy. The dog sure seems to have made himself comfortable. :-)
This is the entertainment center in progress. It's made from strip wood, paper, shingles, and crown molding.
And here it is finished with TV and DVR. I'll add some accessories to the shelves at some point but the "essentials" are there. The picture frame and wall mounted shelf to the left of the door were made with scrapbook stickers.
The desk is set up for paying bills - laptop, checks, bills, etc. The silver frame is part of another scrapbook sticker. The left wall holds a college diploma framed in black.

Hand weights on the mat. I'm still thinking about the treadmill - maybe I should do an exercise ball instead?

The far left room is an exercise room. The back wall is mirrored and reflects the yoga mat on the floor. Anyone have an idea for how to make a half scale treadmill?
It's looking good but there's a lot to do on the inside. I have a lot of little furniture pieces to make and then all of the accessories. The office has a printie desk. I need to make a desk chair and maybe an overstuffed chair for that room, a dresser for the bedroom, tables, entertainment center, for the living room. I also need to make rugs and curtains for all of the rooms. Artwork, too. Now I'm in my favorite stage of a mini project.
I touched up the edges of my cupboards and added trim to the top - I see I still have a little touch painting to do. I've also finished the crown molding and baseboard through out the house. You can't really tell in the photos but I added a drop of clear dimensional gel to each individual tile in the back splash. It really does look like tiny little individual tiles!
The landing is one of my favorite rooms. I carried the living room wallpaper up the stair wall but didn't have enough to do the whole room. I like the gingham on the top.
The bedroom wallpaper is a very subtle blue and pink pattern. I think I'll put pale blue curtains in this room to bring out the blue in the walls.
Isn't it going to be a pretty house? The yellow with blue and white trim is so cheery.
All of the rooms still need crown molding and baseboard. The living room looks pretty empty at this point. I can't believe how large the rooms are.

The bathroom turned out really well. Elevating the toilet area allowed me to hide the base of the toilet and make it look as though it's the right height. The same wallpaper and tile are in the laundry room.
Last night I got 2 coats of paint on the exterior - it's a very soft yellow. The name of the color is "hope." I like that. :-) The light patches in the photo are the tape holding the shell together while the glue dries.
I also got the floors stained and the ceilings painted. The third floor will have tile in 2 of the 3 rooms but it was easier to stain the whole thing for now.
Here it is all taped together so I can see how I want to lay the rooms out. I can fit both the bathroom and the laundry room in the third floor and still have the third room. I'm not sure what I'll do with that yet. (Sorry about the crooked wall downstairs. I didn't realize it had fallen over until I saw the photos.)
The middle room will be a home office/study. I need to make the refrigerator and all the cupboards for the kitchen. The living room needs an entertainment center, coffee table and end table.
I have some tile paper I will use to cover the elevated area around the toilet and to enclose the tub/shower area. I will probably tile the bathroom floor, too. The laundry room will just need a table for folding and a shelf over the appliances for soap and other supplies.
The range started as a basic printie from Jim's Printables. I embossed the burners, added bead knobs, toothpick handles, and dimensional accent gloss to the oven door to make it look like black glass.
I turned these printies inside out and made all my own knobs. I used an embossing tool to make the doors look more realistic.
