Changes in the wind

If you've been following me for any length of time, you know that I can rarely call something finished and then leave it that way. ;-) Fortunately, my changes are usually improvements and, in this case, that is definitely true. I just didn't like the look of two separate cabinet units when that isn't how they look in real life. So I trimmed a bit here and filled a bit there and painted over it all. Then I used a scrap book trim, filled in the holes with different colors, added a bit of Triple Thick, and called it tile. I added bits and bobs from my stash to blend in any problem areas, and...ta da! Now I should probably finish the walls, flooring, windows, etc. LOL

The Odds and Ends Challenge Revealed

Here are the items we had to use. At least part of each thing had to be used in some way in the final project.
I made a scene in a cigar box. I have it hanging in my kitchen.
Here's a closer look at the counter. Can you guess how I used each item? (Hint: some things were dismantled and some were used in more than one way.)

Small World summer contest entry

Now that the winners have been announced I can show you my "Picnic in the Park". I made all of the food except for three slices of the watermelon. Burgers, potato salad and cherry pie...yum!

New photos

I don't know if this ever happens to any of you but last night at around midnight I suddenly decided that I couldn't stand the out of scale spaghetti in my new dollhouse. And since mine was one of several I'd made for swaps, I felt the need to make a new one not only for me but for all the people who'd received my overscaled bowl of spaghetti in the swap. I'm so much happier with the new ones (anyone reading this who got one of the other bowls of spaghetti will be getting another in scale bowl soon, :0) )

I also used some photography tips that Ara posted on her Addams family blog to get a clearer photo of Joseph. You still can't see the little tears on his cheek but you can tell his eyes are moist.

My friend, Theresa, was very happy with her furniture. Tonight I will see Norene and give her the St. Patrick's Day hutch. It's been a lot of fun to create those things with my friends in mind. There's the added benefit of not having to find homes for them afterwards, too. ;-)

The new American Miniaturist had St. Patrick's Day cards to cut out so I had to add those. I also made some mugs (on the top shelf, center section) from instructions from Judy at Small World. Thanks, Judy! I also added a pillar candle and holder next to the stew on the counter. I can't add anything else because I'm giving it to Norene tonight and the glue wouldn't have time to dry. Hopefully, I'll remember that if I get "inspired" again.

It's my birthday!

I don't have much to share today. Just a picture of the sad mini birthday cake I made for myself. I only hope that my next attempt shows improvement! I had the most trouble with the frosting. I think I didn't add small enough chunks of polymer clay to the liquid sculpey. Any suggestions are very appreciated. So, although it doesn't look very pretty, I'm sure it tastes good. You are all invited to the party. Have a piece of cake and stay awhile!
