My French Country house got a six page feature article and the tile tutorial is three pages long. Both look wonderful. Now I can't wait to get my print version!

Great news!

The French Country dollhouse is going to be featured in the May issue of American Miniaturist! There will also be a tutorial on how to do the barrel tiles. I've had a few previous feature articles but it's been several years. I'm very excited, especially since I'm so happy with how this house came out.

In the meantime, I've been researching Carpenter Gothic houses. That's the style the Westville kit is intended to be and I love what I've been seeing. Stay tuned for updates on that project.

A new article!

The story of Rose and her friends at A Rose Among Thorns saloon was published in the November issue of American Miniaturist. The two page article turned out really well. I wish there'd been room for more photos - there isn't even one showing Pansy - but overall I'm happy with the finished piece.

Big day today. I had to get new tires put on DD#2's car so I drove to her college town (and spent over $400 on tires!). We had lunch together then I stopped on my way home to visit my mom. We had a good visit, too, but it was a very long day. The next few are booked solid. I think I can crash on Tuesday, lol.

Welcome and some good news

A wonderful surprise!

I just got the November issue of American Miniaturist and was delighted to find my doctor's office featured in the ittybits section of the magazine. The article turned out beautifully! All of you fellow bloggers were mentioned with a particular mention of Doreen who suggested the caption for the room. Thanks everyone!

A "tail" of two Henrys

I'm off on a road trip to see DD #1 at college today so I will leave you with some photos of my first attempts at sculpting dogs over a wire armature and then adding "fur." The first dog won 2nd place in American Miniaturist's Henry contest. He was modelled after the editor's own dog named Henry.

This second dog was sculpted as a Christmas swap gift for my friend, Tina, in the UK. She named him Henry in honor of my 2nd place win. He looks really good from the side but he has some issues when you look at him from the back. I think I need some more practice getting the balance right. LOL I'm very proud of how real his markings look, though.

Good morning!

Two of my kids are on spring break this week so it was a busy weekend. I hope to have some mini time later today but it may not happen. My daughter has a pile of clothing to mend/alter so I may be at the sewing machine more than the work table today. So today I'll show you some photos from the first men's game room I made. This one is 1:12 scale and was featured in American Miniaturist. My brother saw this one and really liked it and that's why I made the one for him in 1:16 scale that I posted photos of in an earlier post. This was my first experience in building a box from scratch (I used foam core for this one) and making and electrifying my own lights. These photos show the lights before my electrical supplies came but I have since made them working lights. I've been working on dolls for my etsy shop recently but looking at these pictures is making me want to start a bigger project again. Hmmm, I'll have to think about that for awhile.
