I got a lot done!

Please excuse the hand in some of the photos. I'm not ready to hang mirrors, cabinets, and such but I wanted to give you an idea of where they will be.

The toilet did not have a tank when I bought it at an antique shop. The seat was black. I used a dental floss box for the tank and painted the seat. I added a flush handle and it turned out well. I painted all of the brass faucets to look like oil rubbed bronze.

The windows are my next challenge, once I finish the bedroom floor. They are all way too high to make any sense so I have to figure out a way to give the illusion of a longer window. I don't want to cut new ones because I don't like to make structural changes to vintage houses, even the homemade ones.

All of the window and door trim as well as the baseboards will be white.

Daughter #2 and family are coming for the weekend so I won't get much done while they are here. Have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

A couple of details

I know I said I would get started on the painting but I spent a little time on this snow day to add a couple of finishing details. I made this tiered tray over the weekend from a bottlecap, jewelry finding, and a push pin. I painted it today to look like galvanized metal and then filled it.

The couch pieces aren't lined up quite right where the corner meets the left side so I made a throw blanket for where the two pieces join.
I am going to do a bit more Pinterest research and then get started on the painting. Hopefully, I will be back later with more to share.

I think the furniture is finished...

Which means I am going to have to start painting soon so I can get to the best part -adding all of the details. I made the sectional couch and pillows this evening. I need to make the felt rug a bit smaller and I do need end tables.

I bought the washer and dryer at Hobby Lobby with my 40% off coupon. The large jar is filled with laundry detergent.
I also found felt I like for the bedroom rug. I think the walls in here will be a blue gray.

I am getting things done. The couch was one of the biggest projects so I am glad to have that one done. Hopefully I will be back soon with more to share. Have a wonderful week!

More farmhouse fun!

I made a bed with a tufted headboard today. I moved the hexagon end table to the bedroom to use as a nightstand and I raided the antique shop for an antique style school desk for the other side. I also stained the trunk. So, opinions please - should I paint the desk and/or trunk with the white chalk paint? I would distress either piece so the dark stain shows.

Although you can't really tell, the bed has sheets under the comforter.
I ordered the kitchen set from miniatures.com. The only change I am making to the set is staining the table top. If I could figure out how to do it without getting stain on the chair backs, I'd probably stain the chair seats, too.

Slowly making progress

My first task was stripping all of the contact paper from the floors. Of course, none of it came off in one sheet.

This is all of the stuff I peeled off the floors!
I gave several of the furniture pieces makeovers. This hutch became an entertainment center with a built in "electric" fireplace at the bottom. That's all I've done so far. I know the basic look I want but specifics are not as clear yet. I will post as I get inspired. Happy Valentine's Day, my friends!

It's my birthday!

Hubby and I went antiquing for my gift and we found a new project dollhouse.

We found the house at one of our favorite antique malls and the furniture pieces at a new to us little shop. I like the barn red color of the house. I am thinking this will be a current times farmhouse style, or at least a home in the country. A friend has a similar colored home here in the Midwest cornfields where we live. So the style may be somewhat similar to the stone cottage I did a couple of years ago. That house is very similar to my personal style with the rustic black pieces. I may go with gray walls and lots of white.for this one.
