These are the spoils of a day of thrifting and antiquing with Hubby. Notice that big handmade dollhouse.
After a bit of thought and research it is going to be a rural farmhouse without electricity or full indoor plumbing, circa 1930. The kitchen area is quite small so I had to improvise on the wood cook stove. I started with the smaller size Dollar Tree dresser. I am very pleased with the result of it and the enamel work table made from another Dollar Tree piece. I already had the the sink with hand pump and the ice box.
I really like all of the original flooring so I hope to keep it all. The upper story has a weird cutout that I will show you next time. I am so excited to have a new mini project. It was way past time.

Just relaxing
Tasha and her dog George (because he looks a bit like my childhood pet of the same name) are relaxing after their first public appearance at my church talent night. I love the look of wonder on children's faces when they see a dollhouse. Especially if it has lights. I always also get a few adults who don't understand why I play with toys but that's ok. It is hard to explain just how special this hobby is to someone. I am thankful for all of you who do "get it!"

Everybody needs a friend
Especially when you are a dog and don't have opposable thumbs. I decided today, after searching eBay yet again for the appropriate resident of the cottage, that the only reasons I didn't care for the Fisher Price doll were that her clothing was plastic and you could see the joints in her knees. So I made her a pair of khakis and a hoodie and pulled her hair back.

Getting near the end
Remember I told you that the fireplace was still bugging me? Well, today I ripped it out and gave it a makeover. I painted everything but the granite and mantle black and trimmed the fire screen with antique gold. The top of the chimney breast got a bit of gold trim as well.
In the bathroom I added a little stool/table and filled it with toiletries - bath salts, shampoo, body wash, hairspray, nail polish, and lipstick.
i have talent night coming up at my church next month. I am planning to take my cottage farmhouse and the chicken coop. It is always fun to see the reactions as people find all the little details.
Have a wonderful week, my friends!

Still plugging away
My first project of the day was to work a bit more on that last stone wall. I divided some of the larger stones to make the wall more consistent with the others. Next up was a range hood. The base is the thin plastic container that my gift from AM came in. Then I just cut and glued balsa wood sticks to the plastic to get the size and shape I wanted. The trim at the bottom is narrow studded leather ribbon.
In the living room I did a little work on the fireplace. I am still not completely satisfied with it. And here is the entire interior as it looks tonight. I am still in search of the perfect doll for this house.
I have no idea where this little house's spot will be. I still have a few larger pieces that are homeless.
Stay tuned. Hopefully there will be more progress to share soon!

Tiny changes

Working my way around
The door was originally the same color as the rest of the house. The stones are penciled in ready to paint.
The dormer windows were just the frames over the same house paint so they didn't look very window like. I added curtains, white with blue pompons. It's just a little touch but it helps with the overall farmhouse charm.
I have the chimney end left to do and then the exterior will be finished. Then I will move on to the personal details inside the house.
Thank you to all who are following along on this project. Wishing you a wonderful blessing filled week, my friends!
Edit: I gave the stones two light coats of a white wash and like the results much better.
