Rearranging the bedroom meant I needed to find a spot for her painting. That fits nicely in the living room in front of the window so she has good light. I had to rearrange the living room to fit that in but at least moving mini furniture is not too difficult. I didn't have to strain any muscles at all. :-)
These photos are all before the door and window holes are cut out and there's a wall cabinet to hang over the sink/stove combination. The Dora border will also act as a backsplash for the kitchen.
There's also still a lot of accessorizing to do but much progress was made today.
I forgot to take a pic of the exterior. Theresa has chosen a bright pink, a dark rose and white. It's going to be a very pretty little house. I promise there will be photos when everything is finished.
Here are gingerbread houses in one inch, 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch scales. The picture is bad and I'm sorry. The green is not really quite that bright. They turned out well, though, even if the photo is blurry. You'll just have to take my word for it, lol.

This is another one of those crazy weeks here but I did find time to make this little gingerbread house. I needed to replace the one that the puppy ate several months ago. Apparently, she did me a favor because I like this one much better, lol.
I already had a tub for the dollhouse so I've been looking for an inexpensive toilet. I knew it wouldn't be difficult to make some sort of sink/vanity combo. I looked at Dollar Tree where I've found bathroom sets before to no avail. So, in desperation, I designed my own. The part that had me stumped was making a seat with a lid that opened.Yesterday I finished a bottle of liquid dish detergent and there was my mini toilet seat, lol. The bowl is a small wooden egg cup style communion cup. The tank is made with miscellaneous wood bits. The sink and vanity are in a bookcase. I removed the top shelves, glued in a mirror and cut small rounded shelves from craft sticks. The faucet is a screw hook, the sink is a lid. It is all very sturdy and "playable."
The Halloween hutch is no longer in my shop. I decided that Wanda needed her own permanent spot so I'm keeping the hutch. I also made a perch for Walter, the owl, and a bubbling cauldron over a fire. The base is just a scrap piece of 1x4 that I gave a faux stone finish. Wanda is not permanently fastened down so I can have her tending the fire or looking through the cabinet. I decided that she's not a very successful witch. She's green because of a spell gone bad while trying to turn the frog into a prince she instead turned herself green and you can see that the frog is still hopping around. Wanda does not look too happy about it either. :-)
This is Wanda. She was inspired by the orange leather witch's hat and owl made by Sandy Copeland for a recent swap. I added the band and feather to the hat and sculpted and dressed Wanda. Her owl is perched on a witch's hutch from my etsy shop. This is the first doll of this sort I've ever made. It was nice to not have to worry much about "pretty", although Wanda is dressed in her best dress and curled her hair especially for Halloween. ;0)

I thought the wood needed to be a warmer color so I stained it maple today. The little table looks really nice, I think. I used a stain pen for the plastic legs. I also made the Tinker Bell rug and the pot of flowers. Everything should be kid safe and cozy for the dollhouse inhabitants. There's also an entertainment center for this room but I've already given it to my friend. It's a rustic green with Tink on the doors.

This furniture was kind of an experiment but I think it turned out fairly well. It's pretty sturdy so should stand up to the girls' play. The table is just a pizza saver with a wood disc glued to the top. The couch and chair frames are made from square dowel and miscellaneous wood scraps.
And here they are...the little lights. These candles were all made from dollar store pencil erasers. The unburned ones just have white thread wicks and are glazed with matte varnish. The burned ones have the wicks tipped with black and are rougher around the top edges. I used thick tacky glue to make the drips and the whole thing was glazed with the matte varnish. The candle holders were made from some stud jewelry findings I found on clearance at Hobby Lobby. The darker blue candles are on pedestal style holders made with the studs on jewelry finding bases. The other candle holders are made with the studs mounted on woodsie bases and then decorated. These are so simple but look so real when finished.

It occurred to me today that October is half over. (BTW, today is the one year anniversary of my surgery for endometrial cancer - so far, all is great!) Usually by now I've at least started making our Christmas cards. Since the closer we get to the new year, the more time I'll be spending on wedding stuff, I decided today was a good day to design and start this year's cards. They are simple, but elegant this year. The cardinal is the Indiana state bird and I love that little pop of color at the bottom.
Hubby needed some cards for the people he shepherds at church so I also made these. A productive and crafty day...even if I didn't make anything tiny. :0)

While I was working on the quilt I decided to use it in the dollhouse that represents my real house. While I liked what I had before it didn't really look like anything hubby and I have ever had in our bedroom. So I tore the entire bed apart and made a new headboard based on my real one. I also made new curtains and table cloths for the room. It looks great!
The house is a Christmas house all the time because it's my favorite holiday. Hubby plays the French horn, there's a dollhouse in the corner because most of my dollhouses are in our room. I'm so excited about how the redecorating turned out!
The first time I alternated navy and green, every other one. That made a striped effect that I didn't want. So I tried again with two navy, two green. I like the resulting pattern much better. This is a great way to use up old bias tape or woven ribbon. I had some of each on hand from one of my mom's craft supply sorting sessions. I tend to get what she no longer wants or needs. :0) I like the blues and greens in the quilt. I'm not sure what I'm going to use for the backing fabric yet. I need to raid the fabric drawers to see what I can find. I'll post photos of the finished quilt.
Here they are. The glue is still drying on some pieces but I'm very happy with the results. If I were to do something like this for an adult's dollhouse I would make the handles much less "clunky." They are perfect, though, for little girls.
The faucet is a screw hook and I reused the cabinet knobs I removed for the handles. The stove knobs are just beads. The fridge and oven handles are strips of balsa sanded into shape and painted.
