I tried some of the more advanced tips from the book for this second head. The photo shows the two side by side. The one on the right reminds me of one of my uncles. My son says the one on the left looks like one of the grumpy old men from the Muppet Show and my hubby says he looks like Burl Ives. Any similarity to anyone else is purely by accident in both heads. I think I am going to have a lot of fun with this book. The difference from the first to the second is amazing to me. I guess I've just never had it all explained so clearly before.

Great job De. The eyes and the lips are so much better on the second one. I am still afraid to try this. The eyes are my biggest problem as I just cant seem to hold my hand steady enough to paint them right. Really looks good.
Hey De
I posted my first attempts at sculpting on my blog a few days back....let me say....your first is much better than mine was :-)
The lips on the second look great...mine look like someone slapped a fish on his face.
But these aren't my first sculpting attempts, Jayne. Just my first using this book. Trust me, your first attempts blow mine out of the water. I think you were born to be a sculptor - you just have to get over that perfection thing. :-)
For the last seven years I have made my parents something for Christmas. The last several years its been harder and harder to come up with new ideas but last year I had this crazy idea to sculpt them. I borrowed the same book from the library and thought it was a great tool and very inspirational. Making them was harder than I thought! I would love to keep practicing at it if I get the time. Maybe I'll post the project of my parents if you'd like?
Nice job on yours though! You look like a pro already.
I'd love to see the photo of your project. I think it's great fun to duplicate things from my real life - including the people!
