The "round thing" project

On the Small World forum, several of us are making round structures. This was originally supposed to be a contest but it's been changed to a group project so that we can share hints and tips. I am making a quarter scale fairy house in a 1:12 scale tree stump.

I have the interior completed and today I'm working on the bark and roots of the stump. So far, I'm really happy with how it is turning out.

Once the paper mache is dry I will paint it to look like bark and then I'll finish the landscaping of the base. Most of the other projects are in 1:12 scale I think but I wanted to try something in a smaller scale since I usually only work in 1:12. All of the furnishings are made with natural items - wood, pods, bark, shells. A lot of the materials came from various pot pourri bags I had on hand.

Oh I'm so glad that you are doing this project. I have been planning a fairy house, in a tree stump, but wasn't sure about how I was going to make the stump! You made my day!

I'm glad I could help, Gaye. I've now painted it and landscaped it and I love the way it turned out. My daughter said that you'd never know it started as a Pringles can. It was really easy, too.
