It's an open and shut case

Except that the shutters don't really open or shut, lol. I made all of the shutters, painted the door and the roof black, painted the trim with a fresh coat of white, and I am so pleased with the end result.
Because of the position of the door I had to make the right side shutters a bit more narrow.
I am happy enough with the painted roof that I am not in a hurry to shingle it. Eventually I will likely want to but for now it is such an improvement that I don't feel the need. I can't believe how much of a difference the shutters make. It looks like a finished house now. I don't think I am finished with interior accessories. Just waiting for inspiration now.
Hubby and I are both off work for the next week. I'm hoping to find some mini things during our antiquing jaunts. If I find anything, I will share here.

Wishing you a blessing filled weekend!

Storage

I found some more unfinished furniture pieces at Dollar Tree yesterday. The bathroom needed a place to store linens so I added this low dresser to the bathroom.
The original chest of drawers in here had some glue issues that I wasn't able to sand off. This one has different problems but it has a much smoother front so I painted it for the bedroom.

I need to get busy on the exterior soon. I know how I want to do the shutters so they will be an upcoming project. Spring is finally here, I think, so today I am just enjoying some sunshine. Hope you are having a wonderful day wherever you are!

I want one for my 1:1 house!

I found a small windmill at my local Dollar Tree for $1. It is meant for a fairy garden. I bought it, not really certain of how I would use it.
I forgot to take a before photo but it was all more rust in color with no shelves. I added some patina paint and made shelves for it.
Here it is in the living room before I filled the shelves. It fits perfectly in the space next to the couch.

And here is the finished piece. The top shelf has a small lilac wreath and the lower shelf has some spindles in a whitewashed wooden bowl, a small decorative finial (actually a vintage button), and a pillar candle on a wooden holder (also a vintage button and the candle is a pencil eraser.)I really would love one in full size, lol, but for now I will have to be satisfied with the mini version.

Have a wonderful, blessing filled week my friends!

It isn't finished but...

It's finished enough for the talent show. I still need to make shutters for the exterior but they can wait.
There is one lone lamp for the living room but it will have to do for now.
The door has a knob and the hutch is filled. My mom passed away last summer and my sister gave me a bunch of Mom's craft supplies that I hadn't gone through yet. I found several things for the hutch.
I forgot to take photos of the kitchen after I hung the lights. I will have to add those later. None of the lights are working.
The bedroom got a pair of lamps. I love how these turned out.
There is make up and perfume on the tray, a small jewelry box and flowers on the dresser.
I also made a tiny alarm clock.
The bathroom now has a light over the sink and I made mouthwash for the bathroom, and pine-sol, rubbing alcohol, and Downy for the laundry area. Many of those were made from light bright type pegs. The fabric softener jug was made from the little bottle hubby's nebulizer meds come in.
I also got a couple of loads of laundry done today and switched the winter decor to spring. We had snow on the ground when we got up this morning but spring is coming!

I could live here

I had fun fine tuning some of the things I did yesterday and adding art and other things this evening.
The kitchen now has a clock.
The laundry area has some art pieces. It still needs cleaning supplies and more laundry things like bleach and softener.

The clock was made from a picture I downloaded but I used planks of wood to back it so it looks more realistic.

I added black tile trim to the tub surround area.
My favorite project of the evening is this "galvanized metal" tray that I made from paper.

This week has seen so much progress on the house. I am really having fun with it.I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Now I can do the fun stuff!

The tub now has a shower option, too. The essential bathroom supplies like towels, toilet paper, toothbrushes, and toothpaste are now readily at hand.

The laundry room area still needs art and more laundry supplies.
The curtains are finished in the bedroom. These are take 2 and I am now happy with them.

I added some "wrought iron" pieces to the bedroom.
I am very happy with the candle since. It is made from a hodge podge of things as usual, lol.

I have made a lot of progress over the past week. Hubby wants me to take it to our church talent show on Sunday so I am putting more hours into it. I am also ready to have the creative mess off my dining room table. I want to add exterior shutters and touch up the white trim paint on the parts I haven't already done. If this one isn't done in time, I have the farmhouse I recently finished.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend! Hopefully I will be back soon with a finished house.

Just a few little things

I finished the corner gallery wall. I just used found objects like the key and made a few other things. It turned out well.
In the kitchen I added a table runner and I made two cutting boards for the counter.
The barn door isn't actually mounted yet but I wanted to see how it will look. I love it!

It's beginning to look like home

I added a lot of finishing touches in the lower level today. I'm not finished and I can see in the photos where I need to add some trim pieces but it looks like someone actually lives here now.
The wooden tray was made from the extra ice box door in my last project. The candles are pencil erasers.
I repurposed the cabinet doors I removed from the entertainment center as art.

There are dishes on the shelves, a dessert in progress, food in the cabinet, and a rug in the kitchen.

I made a sliding barn door to separate the bedroom from the bathroom. I don't have baseboard done yet so I can't install it. It won't be functional but it looks like it could be.

This was a productive weekend in miniland. I hope you all had time to play, too!

So much done!!

Here is the kitchen in progress. I had to make a new vent for the range hood so it would reach the ceiling.
And this is the mostly finished kitchen. It needs all the finishing details but the trim, tile, curtains, and wall mounted shelves and such are done.
The living room curtains resemble drop cloth curtains. I made wire finials for the rods and hanging brackets so I can change the curtains if I want.

The exterior door is about half an inch shorter than the interior door ways. I built up the top trim so it won't be obvious with the door closed. There is still plenty to do but I am happy with today's progress. Wishing you all a wonderful week!

I've been sick...

...and haven't even felt like working on my dollhouse. I am finally beginning to feel human again, lol, so I spent a bit of time making mini cotton boll and eucalyptus stems.
